Located in Burbank, CA, The Immigrant Library serves as the Immigrant Genealogical Society headquarters, and houses a collection of materials related to German and American genealogy.

For a successful day of research at the library, here are some tips and resources to guide you in finding your ancestors in our collection.

Hours of Operation

The IGS Library in Burbank is open for drop-in visitors every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10am to 5pm.

To visit the library outside of regular hours, please call 816.803.2787 or email president@immigrantgensoc.org.

The IGS Library is closed on all major Holidays.


Cost

Use of the Library is free to members, and a donation of $5.00 for non-members per visit is encouraged to help support public access to our research materials.

Patron Computers

The library is equipped with a ChromeBox computer for accessing the Internet. The ChromeBox also hosts our digital collection, accessible only at the library.

Free WiFi is available for you to connect your personal devices to the internet.

Copiers, Printers, and Scanners

None available, but photos and personal scanners are permitted for use in the library. Copyright limitations may apply.


Library Orientation

The Immigrant Library has a unique filing system for cataloguing its holdings and organizing them on its shelves. On arrival, just ask for a brief orientation to become familiar with the general layout of the shelving system, and the color-coding scheme we use to identify items in our library collection.
