Announcing Personal, 30-minute Research Consultations with Dirk Weissleder
A message from IGS President, Gordon Seyffert:
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, DAGV Vorsitzender Dirk Weissleder will be joining us live from Burbank, California!
Private 30-minute research consultations with Dirk will be available for $25 per half-hour. Consultations can be in person at the library (1310 W Magnolia Blvd in Burbank 91506) or by FaceTime via my iPad or on Zoom from my laptop at the library.
The open times currently run from 12 Noon to 5 PM Pacific Time, and the consultation includes my support in finding books at the IGS Library to help with the research problem at hand.
How to Request a Consultation
Email events@immigrantgensoc.org to request a half-hour time slot.
If you were granted a time slot, then:
1. Submit your payment in advance of the date:
- either by check to: PO Box 7369 Burbank CA 91510-7369
- or by PayPal (credit cards accepted, no personal PayPal account required)
2. Let us know your meeting preference (in-person, FaceTime, or by Zoom).
3. Fill out this research questionnaire in advance so that we can best prepare to help you.
Dirk Weissleder Bio
Honorary IGS Board Member Dirk Weissleder has been the chairman of the Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft genealogischer Verbände e. V. (DAGV), the national umbrella organization of German genealogical & heraldic societies, since 2012, and was from 2007-2017 also president of the German federation of family associations (BdF).
He achieved international recognition as co-founder of the International German Genealogy Partnership (IGGP) in 2015, serving as its 2nd vice president since 2018. He was appointed to the Académie Internationale de Généalogie (AIG) in 2018, and since 2019 serves as elected Secretary General of the World Confederation for Genealogy and Heraldry (CIGH), where he was recognized in 2021 for his merits “for his important work in favour of the knowledge of the German genealogy and family history in the world“.
