These were the Finding Aids prepared in 2015, assisting researchers to know about our holdings and helpful online resources.
In 2016 we moved from the former West Germany (where our collection is strongest) to the former East Germany (DDR) and to Germanic areas in Europe which are not a part of today’s Germany.

Schweiz (Switzerland) — a guide to books and vertical files only,
but no links to web pages provided!
…and, there should be another one for Austria, the Sudetenland (of what was Czechoslovakia), and Germanic areas of northern Italy — but it has not yet been prepared. A preview is here. In the same vein, there is not yet a guide to our books and vertical file materials for Pommern/Pomerania, and that is because we have a Special Interest Group for Pommern that stands ready to assist researchers. But for a German guide with links to research sites about Pommern, look here.
Each of these guides is intended to save you time! You should examine it/them closely to identify the resources most likely to aid your search for your ancestor(s), and then ask for them when you visit. Our volunteers should be able to help you locate them on the shelves so that you can maximize your actual research time while here….
